Thibeau Scarceriaux (°1997) profileert zich op zijn website als "object designer" en fotograaf. Nochtans betrekken zowat alle "objecten" van zijn hand de omgeving erbij, een gevoeligheid die dicht bij de fotograaf Scarceriaux ligt. Voor act XVIII bij smartlab kiest hij -gezien het format- resoluut voor een installatie.
U07.1 tovert smartlab om tot een kijkdoos waarbij niets is wat het lijkt... Reflectie is het code-woord.
Zijn fascinatie voor reflectie kwam eerder al naar boven in het onderzoek en de installatie "27.112313.53.011508", geïnspireerd door het taboe dat religies scheidt. De "true mirror" die deel uitmaakte van dit onderzoek werd later m.2[s]... een confronterend object om U tegen te zeggen.
U07.1 is ook de code die toegekend wordt aan patiënten met een longontsteking, waarvan bevestigd werd dat deze het gevolg is van covid-19.
Zonder zelf in aanraking geweest te zijn met het virus geeft deze titel wel aan dat ook Scarceriaux niet ongevoelig bleef voor de (gevolgen van de) pandemie.
Hij windt geen doekjes om zijn overtuiging dat ze de mens(heid) gebroken heeft. Tegelijk ziet hij er het schone van in... lockdowns die mensen enerzijds terugdringen in hun huiselijkheid en anderzijds aanzetten tot beweging naar buiten...
In zijn installatie voor ACT XVIII brengt hij met weinig middelen "buiten"-connotaties naar binnen. Zijn fascinatie voor reflectie is daarbij opnieuw zijn wapen.
ACT XVIII werd op vrijdag 19 november -middels live streaming- gelanceerd bij B-collective in de Rouppestraat in Brussel. Enkele van Scarceriaux' objecten maakten er deel uit van de collectie '21.

Thibeau Scarceriaux (°1997) presents himself on his website as an "object designer" and as a photographer. Nevertheless, almost all "objects" of his hand involve the environment, a sensitivity that is close to the photographer Scarceriaux. For smartlab act XVIII he resolutely opts for an installation made to measure for the format.
U07.1 transforms smartlab into a diorama where nothing is what it seems... Reflection is the code word.
His fascination for reflection has already surfaced in the research and installation "27.112313.53.011508", inspired by the taboo that separates religions. The "true mirror" that was part of this research later became m.2[s]... a confrontational object to say the least.
U07.1 is also the code assigned to patients with pneumonia confirmed to be due to Covid-19. Without having been in contact with the virus himself, this title indicates that Scarceriaux did not remain insensitive to the (consequences of the) pandemic. According to Scarceriaux the pandemic has broken humanity. At the same time, he sees the beauty within... Lockdowns that on the one hand push people back into their domesticity and on the other hand encourage them to move outside... In his installation for ACT XVIII, he brings "outdoor" connotations inside with very few means. His fascination for reflection is again the weapon.
ACT XVIII was launched -via live streaming- on Friday 19 November at B-collective in the Rouppestraat in Brussels where some of Scarceriaux' pieces were part of the collection '21.
